  • Quantitative assessments of critical thinking skills
  • Pre- and post-assessments of metacognition--what do students think they've learned vs. what have they learned?
  • Use of concept maps and other active learning methods as means of increasing learning gains
  • Efficacy of a primary-literature case-study format for learning genetics concepts and skills

 

Biology research interests:

  • Molecular plant-pathogen interactions, specifically between Arabidopsis thaliana and Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000
  • Poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation in plants
  • The role of genotoxic stress responses in plant innate immune responses
