Does improving student metacognition enhance student learning in physiology?

1. Is there a correlation between student's metacognitive skill and exam performance in physiology

2. If there is a postive correlaion, can I use Bloom's taxonomy of learning to improve student's metacognition?

Assumptions: 

a. Bloom's can be used by students to better identify their cognitive strengths and weaknesses ( higher order vs lower order thinking) [self-diagnosis]

b. Bloom's learning activities for students (BLASt) is a  set of prescribed study activitie tailored to strengthen each specific level of Bloom's.  Students will be able to use this tool to improve their cognitive weaknesses. [presscription]
