Are we seeing appreciable gains in scientific thinking skills from the use of inquiry in the classroom?

Or more formally:

Directed inquiry through research experiences will develop the student’s ability to think scientifically.

Definition of thinking scientifically: to synthesize, analyze and apply advanced content and science process knowledge.

Currently no control group so the question is “are they achieving stated goal” not currently is this better than some other pedagogical tool.

However we are changing our curriculum in the next academic year.We will have two years of data (two cohorts) before the curriculum change to evaluate our current curricular model and the importance of this course in change vs the new starting point of students entering this course.
